Choosing a color may seem to be rather simple, but is that really true?

Tips on picking colors

For me choosing a color is actually rather difficult because so many things have to be considered. So let's go through what you need to consider when choosing your colors.

The materials themselves play a big part in what colors you choose

Colors for clear static window cling & Clear HiTac

When choosing colors for static window cling an clear HiTac, keep in mind that the material is clear
White and very light colors will be transparent and have no color at all. The darker the color the
better the design stands out. If the colors are dark enough they do provide some privacy
during the day, but when your house lights are on and it is dark outside, there will be no privacy.

Privacy window cling & White static window cling:

Privacy is a white material and handles white and light colors well but you still need to choose
your colors wisely. If you have a dark color that fades to a light color even on privacy material
the light color may become white. The reason for this is because the color itself has allot of white and
the computer on our plotters will only see the white because that is the main color.
When you choose your colors do look at them closely to see just how much white will actually appear.

Sun Screen:

Sunscreen is also a white material, but because of the 2ml holes that allow you to see out, it also affects
how the colors are received. For images the smallest size recommended is 10x10, if you would like text the minimum height would be 3 inches tall. Colors may seem just a little faded because only half of the material is actually printed on because of the holes. Don't get me wrong, the images turn out sharp and clear and you will be pleased with the looks, but there will be some color change. The color black will give the illusion of transparency. so a colored images and white text will somewhat look like they are by themselves.

Clear matte wall paper:

Because the material appears somewhat frosted, it will accept white and light colors pretty well.
Do keep in mind that just like privacy window cling, the white in the color you choose will determine
whether you have color or not.

Vinyl:

Used for semi-permanent outside use, is a white material that takes color nicely and really makes it pop

Prismatic window cling:

A rainbow of colors all on it's own and is a great way to display a line drawing or text with some real snap.
It is also a very good privacy provider and stops glare well because it does inhibit light coming through.
Can be used to accent a window, cover a glaring light spot so you're not bothered, and makes text something special.

Silver window cling:

Silver in color and makes all other colors pop. Because it is reflective it will give a mirror effect. It also gives text a new way to shine and also works great for images and line drawings. This material will also work well for window accents and to be placed as needed to stop the suns glare from bothering you.

How to choose colors:

Now that we've talked out the materials and how they take the color let's continue on. Let me point out to you first, that all the designs in our stained glass gallery can have their colors changed to match your decor. You can choose your color by looking at the designs in the gallery and finding a color you like on another image. You can send a color sample to me by email or regular mail and I will select something for you that closely matches. Or you can just tell me what you would like and I will find something that suits your request.

Coming soon

you will be able to search our stained glass gallery by key words. Soon you can type in basic colors and find the designs that have the colors you are looking for. Also very soon we will be having a color selector available to help you choose just the color you would like to see
